What is Social media week 2012?

This is a video I shot with my iPhone of Asher Roth answering a question about social media.

OK, so social media week 2012 is an event that goes on for a week simultaneous all over the world, and yesterday was officially the last day of social media week 2012 here in LA. Me and my lady went to the seminars held at the famous Egyptian theater, the W hotel, Madam Tussauds, and a few other locations. Most not even a block from my apartment here in Hollywood. As you still might not know, I've been a social media nerd since forever, but honestly this was my first time attending any event like this. I was excited like a kid on Christmas eve all last week, because I couldn't wait to see how the some of the A list celebrities, big time PR companies, and record labels are using social media. We got a chance to see so many great panels of speakers throughout the week. It was bloody fuckin' crazy! Lol. Absolutely fuckin' priceless! Lol. This is how the EC Twins might have said it. Lol. The whole experience turned out to be truly amazing and at times even surreal. I was lucky enough to be sitting only four or five rows away as Lady Gaga's manager, Troy Carter, spoke about how important it is for musicians to have one main hub to facilitate and engage your fans. I was blown away listening to Snoop Dogg's online presence-manager explain how Snoop has basically built the ultimate personal brand, allowing him, the artist, the business man, and the spoke's person, to all work for him in harmony online. People, don't look at it as jumping on the band wagon, call it being aware of the times. Social media is more alive now than ever, and I felt kinda good about a few of the efforts I've already made. Not just as a rapper from Cincinnati, but as "BRAND PETER PARKER 513".
I was listening to the editor of Vibe magazine, Sarah Polonsky, run down a list of things the new age artists needs to do in order to have shot at success, and I had almost all of it done already. Haha. Like I said before Surreal :) We saw special guest, Big Boi of Outkast, kill it and set the tone for the incredible Janelle MonĂ¡e, who performed live at the Nokia Center (at LA Live) last Tuesday. The rest of the week was jam-packed with fashion bloggers, celebrity speakers like: Nick Cannon and Larry King, to Asher Roth and Chip the Ripper. They threw parties and had open bars where we did some really good networking, and made some legitimate contacts. During the seminars my mind was like a sponge, I soaked up all kinds of social media tips and information. But by far the highlight of this week, was meeting the one and only, Chip The Ripper. I love Chips' music and persona. Living in Hollywood, I'm so used to seeing celebs and really it's not something that normally moves me at all. But Chip the Ripper is from Ohio! so to see the real "OG" was like stupid motivating for me.

Who Is Joanne Salt?

I'm excited to switch things up a little bit with this week's shout out post. Since day one, Joanne Salt has been one of my most loyal supporters and good friends, but yesterday when she showed me this amazing hand drawn photo I was compelled to express my gratitude. I honestly feel like the dreams I chase are my destiny, so I constantly feel this burning flame of ambition inside me that I've learned to fan by setting small short term goals, and even smaller micro goals that keep me motivated and moving forward. Now with all that being said, I still can't begin to tell you, about how hard it is to put yourself out there as an artist. At times, the judgment and
different situations of your family and friends alone can be enough to make anyone have doubts. So Joanne! I want to say thank you again so much. Not only for taking the time to draw me or for supporting everything I do musically, but for being the truly amazing individual that you are. Keep sending those positive vibes out into the world and universe. I wish you and your family nothing but health, wealth, and prosperity. God bless you ;)

6 Tips On How To Come Up With Good Blog Content?

1. Set aside days and the perfect time for you to write your post. Preferably a time when you feel most creative. For me, it's early in the morning, so I'm committing to 6:00 AM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

2. Pick a list of 10 to 15 main topics that's you feel will be helpful and entertaining to your readers. For Example, mine are:

  • The Music I love
  • Hip Hop culture
  • Fashion and the swagg life style
  • Social media tips for artist
  • Life motivation
  • Blogging and branding tips for entrepreneurs
  • Faith, spirituality, and health
  • The music Business
  • Technology
  • Trending news.

3. Once you have those main topics, what you want to do is come up with as many subtopics as possible. Lets say you come up with 10 main topics and you have five subtopics for each one. That's 50 blog posts! More then enough to get you into your blogging zone.

4. Now that you've got a bunch of fresh new topics to write about, the next step is to create your own editorial calendar. Schedule in all the topics on the days you chose, as far ahead into the future as you can. This is something that I'm developing as we speak. I will say, that knowing what you will be writing about ahead of time actually saves a lot of time. You don't have to think about what you should be writing about and on the days you're not posting you can still be researching and mapping out your thoughts in preparation for your next post.

5. Here is a list of blogging styles to choose from. It's nice to be able to switch things up for your readers and give them opportunities to engage in your content.

Blog Styles that are good to use:

  • How-to
  • Top 10
  • Opinion
  • Q &A's
  • Interview

6. Have Fun and be yourself. I Love writing, period, and if you're thinking about blogging you do to.

This is my social media notebook. I suggest you go get one. Everything develops a lot easier when it's organized.
